Now widely recognised as a Global Housing Crisis, households in many countries are facing direct shortages of housing supply and unaffordable rents and purchase costs.
Housing issues are faced by both high and low-income nations and although the crisis presents differently, the outcomes are the same. Regardless of context, millions of households are not provided with their human right to adequate housing.
While governments must play the leading role, partnership with private and not-for-profit organisations will be required to address the multiple causes of the crisis.
We have drafted a Global Housing Charter that advocates for governments to provide the conditions which will facilitate and fund housing recovery.
